Okay, so we know that PS and the surrounding area is known for date shakes. On a previous trip we drove out to a neighboring town to what we thought was the quintessential date shake at Shields. And it was okay, but it came out of a soft-serve type machine and they use store-bought ice milk. Needless to say we were a little disappointed - in the shake and the drive out to get what we found to be just okay. Fast forward to this trip. We had seen some Yelp reviews and YouTube videos that raved about Lappert's so we decided to give the date shake another try. Plus, we didn't have to go far to get it:) Boy, are we glad we gave it a shot! My husband (in addition to being a Bloody Mary connoisseur) fancies himself an aficionado of milk shakes and declared it the best shake he's ever had! High praise! He wondered out loud how he had gone 57 years before finding his favorite shake! They make their own ice cream, process the dates into paste daily, and blend it up right in front of you! It's hard to describe but the date paste makes it taste chocolatey and/or like caramel all at the same time. You have to try one! And make it from Lappert's!

It was 115 degrees in Palm Springs! I'm so grateful for Lappert's ice cream. We parked in the nearby parking structure so the car would be cooler when we returned. The ice cream was high quality and absolutely delicious.

In 100+ degree weather this is a required spot on our itinerary every time we are in town. I feel like dole whip ice cream is hard to come by expect in Hawaii and Disney so it's such a nice treat. The float is light, refreshing and sweet in a mango / pineapple way. It's a prime location on Palm Springs major strip. Between all the shopping I would recommend stopping by.

I love, love, LOVE this place. Wait did I say LOVE?.....I can't wait to go and honestly I try to stay away since there are two locations and I want to go every night! The only problem is I never can decide what to get since there are so many choices. Everything from the date shakes to the sorbet to the Rocky Road (they name it something else Hawaiian, I forgot) ice cream is amazing. They even have Dole whip soft serve, just like in Disneyland, OMG! There are a lot of plain old run-of-the-mill ice cream places in the valley. This place tops them all by a long shot.
